Call Your Senators!

Guys the American Health Care Act passed the House today and will be heading into the Senate. It’s going to be a much harder sell there and we only need to get THREE Republicans to vote no to kill the bill. Especially if you live in a state where one or both of your Senators are Republicans, you have GOT to call them and tell them not to vote for the AHCA. 

I know that sounds stressful and a lot of people hate talking on the phone and don’t know what to say but it’s extremely quick and easy. Some random staffer or intern will pick up the call and all you have to do is tell them where you’re from (so you know they’re a constituent) and that you don’t want their Senator to vote for the bill. They’ll record your opinion and that’s it. It’s less than a minute and there’s no conversation you have to sit through. 

For example: Hi, I’m Sarah from Townsville, and I just wanted to let Senator Bob Bobert know that I want him to vote against the AHCA.

That’s literally it. They get a lot of calls so they want to go as quickly as possible.

I really can’t stress how important this is. This bill is unpopular and awful and a lot of them are in insecure seats. Senators who get their offices flooded with calls DO pay attention and it absolutely can flip someone on the fence who sees how angry their constituents are. 

It’s easy to sit on the internet and moan about politics but you can genuinely make your voice heard where it matters. And you can do it everyday! There’s no limit on calls. Please, please, participate in your democracy.
